HEAD OF R&D TEAM – SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

CASE CLOSED

HEAD of PUMP TEAM / senior mechanical engineer, bearings / hydrodynamic bearings

Our customer is working on the development of a modular thorium molten salt reactor. The form factor and modularity enable low-cost mass manufacturing. At present, the company is the only supplier of commercial molten salt test loops needed for the development of components and technologies for molten salt reactors.

Task:

We are looking for a candidate with experience in design and simulation of bearings and/or hydrodynamic bearings. You will be part of the pump team that designs and manufactures high temperature canned motor pumps. Copenhagen Atomics is the global leader in molten salt pumps operating above 600C. These pumps are among other things used in thorium molten salt reactors, which is one of the most promising technologies to enable the green energy transition. Copenhagen Atomics is also active in developing and manufacturing our own thorium molten salt reactor.

About you:

We hope you have experience with bearing design, manufacturing, and modelling. Preferably you also have experience in material properties, making 3D CAD drawings and ordering mechanical parts from suppliers. You enjoy working in close collaboration with other engineers and technicians.

You are good at keeping appointments and delivering on time. We have a workplace where the pace is high and errors can be expensive. If you like to be challenged in your job, then this is the right place to work for you.

Essential skills:

  • Manufacturing of bearings / hydrodynamic bearings
  • Experience in design, modelling and simulation of hydrodynamic bearings and/or bearings
  • Experience in manufacturing hydrodynamic bearings and/or bearings
  • Mathematical modelling
  • O-series production
  • Get mechanical products working, again and again
  • “Maker” culture

Educational level:

Probably BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, bearings, rotating equipment, physics, materials

Language:

Fluent and highly routined in English, written and spoken.

About the company:

Copenhagen Atomics currently has 35 employees and develop nuclear power plants which will be manufactured on assembly lines in the future. The team predominantly consists of engineers and technicians and we speak both Danish and English. Copenhagen Atomics is spearheading the development of MSR technology globally and expects rapid growth during the next 5 years.
